## Caption

Today marks the 24th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), which honors the lives of transgender people who were lost due to violence. The first TDOR observance was organized by Gwendolyn Ann Smith in 1999 to memorialize Rita Hester, a Black transgender woman. 

In observance of TDOR, we recognize the intersectionality of the LGBTQ+ community by sharing an image of the progress pride flag, designed by danielquasar in 2018. It includes the transgender pride flag colors plus black and brown stripes to represent LGBTQ+ people of color. In Daniel’s words, “The arrow points to the right to show forward movement, while being along the hoist edge shows that progress still needs to be made.”
