Some information I would like to share regarding law enforcement that I wish I'd known.

It is crucial to prioritize personal time and not sacrifice important occasions like birthdays or holidays for overtime or off-duty work.

It is important to understand that individuals outside of your unit do not have a vested interest in the number of  foot/vehicle pursuits, shootings, fights or firearms you have seized. It is essential to prioritize your well-being and return home.

Your department will value your contributions until they no longer require your services. Unfortunately, regardless of the positive impact you may have, even the smallest mistake will overshadow your achievements and result in disciplinary action.

Please remember that you are replaceable. In the unfortunate event of your passing, there will be a brief period of commendation, a memorial service, but your position will likely be filled before the flowers have wilted.

Allocate quality time to spend with your family. Offer them the same dedication and enthusiasm you display when dealing with drug dealers and gang members.

If you find yourself grappling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it is highly recommended to seek professional assistance. Do not suppress your emotions, as doing so may lead you into a dark, isolating place burdened with a heavy weight.

Above all, do something today that will keep you alive tomorrow.🏴🏴
