Renew Art Project > 934 Portage Ave. > mandy_vanleeuwen X westendbiz > In the final stretch of my pieces for this project. Some touch ups and maybe a signature. It’s been a really fun time. Can’t express how grateful I am to have worked along side a great crew of artists. Honoured and humbled. Learnt lots and inspired to keep growing my process and skill set. 

Thanks again mandy_vanleeuwen and westendbiz for providing this platform for us to share our work with the community. I hope to see more of these opportunities for other artists to share their gifts.

Untitled - Based on the theme of “Renew” I took an approach of renewing your mind and seeing things in a different perspective. Using simple shapes, the design is based on my interpretation of an abstract urban landscape while drawing inspiration from neighbourhood blocks, crosswalks, streets, sun/moon and the shadows casted by buildings. This is my first flat painted murals in almost two decades, but I still wanted to create depth and movement. The simple relief shaded elements add depth and help to support the idea of perspective. Ultimately I wanted this to leave the piece up to the audience interpret. The colours were chosen to be bold and high contrast to specifically help to draw people into the exhibit from a distance and create awareness and intrigue. Couldn’t help but tap into my Graphic Design/marketing head. It’s part of my make up. Ha. These pieces are intended to eventually be installed on building around town, so hopefully this one finds a place where it shines bright and adds renewed life to the area. Hope y’all dig it. ✌🏾
