Meet NYRR member Dena Rosman who completed the 9+1 program in 2022 to gain guaranteed entry to this year’s #TCSNYCMarathon. She was inspired by her roommate’s grandfather who also completed the 9+1 program and became the oldest 2023 #TCSNYCMarathon finisher at 87 years old. 🗽🫶
 
“Hearing about his unwavering dedication to running ignited a spark within me and served as a catalyst in my journey,” Dena said.
 
As a member, Dena is passionate about supporting NYRR’s mission to help and inspire people through running by fostering an inclusive running community for runners of all abilities and ages. 🤝
 
“The atmosphere at NYRR race is unparalleled. While the rest of the city is asleep, the [runners] are filled with energy and enthusiasm,” she said.
 
She signed up for NYRR group training sessions where she found motivation week after week.
 
“The camaraderie within my training cohort and the guidance from the dedicated coaches were a great source of encouragement and inspiration,” she said. “The marathon training journey was an opportunity for local exploration, enriching my daily routine with new landscapes and experiences.”
 
Dena plans to run the #FredLebowHalf in January alongside colleagues from work and she’s also planning to complete the 9+1 program in 2024 for entry into the 2025 #TCSNYCMarathon.
