3 Things We Learned from BTS at the Polar Bear exhibit🐻‍❄️👇🏽

1️⃣ All of the training the polar bears participate in is voluntary! They are trained to do behaviours that help the keepers and vet staff keep a close eye on their health (ex. showing teeth/paws, target training to examine body or get on scale)🩺

2️⃣ Even though they are the largest land carnivore, they still enjoy their veggies!🥬 Their diet consists of fish, meat, seal oil, and special treats like popsicles🧊

3️⃣ Sea ice is rapidly declining, which makes it difficult for polar bears to hunt their prey🦭 They have adapted and changed their diets to include more fish🐟 but are having less cubs every year due to decreased food availability.
