Here is our review of HAKA, a halal pan-Asian restaurant in Hicksville, Long Island.

Food: 7/10
For appetizers, we had the chili paneer, drums of heaven, crispy tuna rice with an order of the Haka House roll. For mains we had the chili garlic noodles with chicken and goat dum biryani. We really wanted to try the Haka hot stone steak where they sear it table side, but unfortunately they were out of it. The apps were fine but just wished there was more of an even portion compared to the price point because the chili paneer had mostly just big chops of onions. The drums of heaven were great - would recommend this as a starter no doubt. The crispy tuna rice is 10 pc and could really fill you up so we recommend ordering this for the table. It was very delicious. We wanted to see what their sushi game was like so we ordered a Haka House roll and it was very neatly presented and tasted great too. The mains kind of fell short for us because the chili garlic noodles with chicken and goat dum biryani didn’t have as much flavor as we were expecting. We ordered a falooda to share at the end and it was standard, so we were happy about that.

Price: 7/10
Prices make sense but could be better if the portion sizes were a little bigger. Most apps start at $10+.

Atmosphere: 9.5/10
We went in the evening so the space was very dimly lit but super vibey because it’s well decorated and posh-looking. (Think velvet cushion seating, artificial vines hanging from the ceilings, and white linen tablecloth lol) so it’s great for couples or even celebration dinners. It seems kind of narrow, but there’s ample space to walk and move around.

Service: 7.5/10
Honestly, we went at a super busy time (Saturday evening), and it was really packed. Wait time was more than 30 minutes for a table. We waited another 25 minutes to receive menus, but at that point we looked up the menu on our phones and knew what we wanted to order lol. It seems like they can bring on more staff during these busy hours.

Chicken is hand-slaughtered.
