Auburn broke from the traditional uniform design to honor legendary quarterback Pat Sullivan following the 2019 season.⠀

Prior to the Outback Bowl versus Minnesota, the Tigers announced that all players would wear Sullivan's retired #7 on the left side of the helmets, with the traditional AU logo adorning the right side. No player had worn #7 since 1971; with this move, nearly 100 players would wear the legendary number.⠀

The navy facemasks were also swapped out for grey masks like what Sullivan wore during his playing days.⠀

The concept to honor the late Heisman Trophy winner, who passed away less than a month before the game, was presented by Auburn's senior players.⠀
