Call me crazy, but the word OFFICER shouldn’t be in any title of someone in a school of learning. I have seen more incidents of “Resource OFFICERS” getting physical with kids than anything else. IWAMFW!! I’ll leave it at that! #TeamDL

#TRIGGERWARNING: Cheyenne, Wyoming — The parents of a Black 8-year-old child with special needs are suing a school resource officer following a horrendous attack that left the child bloodied, bruised, and psychologically traumatized. And the officer in question is accused of trying to delete his bodycam footage to cover up the abuse.
 
On February 15, 2022, Laramie County Deputy Benjamin Jacquot worked at Freedom Elementary School on the Francis E. Warren Air Force Base. A young boy, J.D., was sitting in the hallway talking to a teacher and principal about a prior incident in the lunchroom. As Jacquot approached the scene, his bodycam captured the first 5 minutes of the interaction, and all appeared peaceful and respectful. Then, according to school principal Chad Delbridge, J.D. stood up and began walking towards his class when the deputy “grabbed J.D. by the arm” and assaulted him. Jacquot beat the child with so much force that it caused bleeding and bruises all over his face.

The shocking footage that remained shows the 250 pound deputy on top of the 68 pound 8-year-old who screams out in pain. J.D. could be heard pleading, “I give up!”  In response, the deputy screamed, “No, it’s all me! Do you understand me? I should be taking you to jail!”

The young boy’s father had to pick him up and take him to the hospital.

Attorney Matthew Haltzman, who represents the little boy and his family, told NBC News, “The child’s family is still putting the pieces of their son’s life together.” The family was forced to relocate to an Air Force base in another state, and the little boy is still receiving psychological treatment for the trauma.
