Led by @usc_laic Prof. Sarah Portnoy, students explored Oaxacan culture, food, art, agriculture, and biodiversity.

🔆 Monte Alban Ruins, the most iconic archaeological site of the Valley of Oaxaca.

🔆 Sunday Tlacolula Market. A section of huarache (sandals) sellers.

🔆 Women's Weaving Cooperative Vida Nueva in Teotitlán del Valle. Using plants, insects, and fruits to make natural dyes. This is pomegranate used to make maroon.

🔆 Bike tour of Oaxaca, in front of Santo Domingo Church.

🔆 Tostadas, guacamole and chapulines (roasted grasshoppers).

🔆 Pitayo ceramic workshop in Aztompa. Students made their own ceramics and ate with a family of artisans.

🔆 Cooking class with Sabor Zapoteco Cooking School in the indigenous town of Teotitlán del Valle, run by Reyna Mendoza.

🔆 Workshop with Jacob and María Ángeles in San Martín Tilcajete. Students painted their alebrijes, brightly colored folk art wooden sculptures.

🔆 Students release baby Marine turtles into the ocean, an endangered species.

🔆 Group sunset in Puerto Escondido. Taking time to reflect on meaningful moments and lessons learned.
