Little details that make a big impact on any tabletop:

-Linens: The foundation of any table scape starts with the linen. Consider not just color but a few other elements such as weight, weave, and sheen of the fabric. Play with texture and pattern as well! Once you’ve selected the linen, choose a napkin that compliments the look you’re going for and experiment with different napkin folds.

-Paper Elements: Menus are always a good idea especially at a formal event! People want to know what they’re being served and this detail adds an additional layer of texture to the overall design. If you have multiple tables and assigned seating, don’t forget place cards and table numbers to help your guests quickly and easily locate their seat.

-Chargers: The charger sits under the china and is what your guests will see when they approach the table (because the dinner plates don’t come out until later).

-Flatware: Looking to add a pop of color through metals? This is where you can highlight accents of gold, silver, rose gold, copper, black, a color, etc. Additionally, flatware helps emphasize the aesthetic of your event through traditional and modern styles.

-Candles: There are so many candle styles to choose from, but no matter what is selected, candles always elevate the look of any tabletop and add that magical element of light to your design!

-Floral: The focal point of your design should be the floral. It’s the final element that pulls all of the other details together. Consider elements such as color, variation of blooms, the bloom to greens ratio, shape and height of the arrangement, and the type of vessel it is designed in. (Don’t forget that individual sprig of something beautiful at each plate setting- this is where a lovely bloom or herb can give your guests that elevated experience of fragrance)!

It takes intentional effort to make the decisions that will eventually produce what looks like an effortless design, but by breaking down the elements into the above categories, you’ll be well on your way to a beautiful tabletop! #michelleleoevents
