We are always being tested. 

Tested with scarcity when we have nothing and then we decide whether we’ll be a victim blaming everyone (but ourselves) for our lack of success…. or we’ll choose to be a victor and focus our precious time on making the best of any obstacle placed in front of us in an effort to overcome it, understanding these obstacles make us stronger and more resilient. 

We are also being tested by abundance. When success becomes ours, do we walk in humility when we get our 15 minutes of fame and keep doing the hard work to stay on top or do we bask in our fame and success and forget to keep doing the hard work that got us there in the first place. 

I think it’s abundance that truly reveals one’s character. It’s when someone gets the money and fame and it’s how they handle it that ultimately reveals the person they truly are. Do they still treat people with respect and kindness and show gratitude for their moment or do they stand taller than everyone else and show off the fancy cars and clothes and get drunk on their new found fame? 

The funny thing is that when someone forgets where they came from, the world will usually find a way to remind them by placing them right back there again so they’ll never again forget what it felt like. 

The one thing we can all be sure of is this: fancy cars, watches, vacations don’t bring true friends and they don’t bring happiness. There is an overwhelming sense of depression that happens when people finally acquire these things and then ask….”Is this it? I thought I’d feel more.” “Things” don’t bring happiness. And they don’t bring true friends.

Be careful how you treat people on your way to success. Because if you treat them badly, I can assure you there won’t be anyone there to catch you when you fall.
