In September 2023, engineers and technicians at Michoud Assembly Facility installed the third and fourth RS-25 engines onto the core stage of the #Artemis II SLS (Space Launch System) rocket, completing the installation of all four engines that will help send astronauts around the Moon.⁣
⁣
Using a combination of super chilled oxygen and hydrogen, the engines will provide more than 2 million pounds (900,000 kg) of thrust, sending the Orion spacecraft and astronauts Astro_Reid, AstroVicGlover, Astro_Christina, and CanadianSpaceAgency’s AstroJeremy, around the Moon.⁣
