79% of all plastic that has ever been made is still in landfills or the natural environment, breaking down into tiny toxins - nanoplastics.

To address nanoplastics, #OpticaFoundation Challenge recipient Justus Ndukaife, vanderbiltu, is using the prize to create a high throughput method to trap and analyze nanoscopic plastic particles.

With plasmonic nanotweezers, Ndukaife's method is paving the way for a quicker, more accurate way to study environmental contaminants.
