The letter, authored by attorney Jonathan Weissglass on behalf of the organization and BPA member Nathan Mizell, alleges that the Berkeley City Council violated the Brown Act during two November meetings, when meeting locations were changed due to citizen protests concerning a resolution supporting a ceasefire in Gaza. ⁠

“At both meetings, Mayor Jesse Arreguín recessed the Council and held the remainder of the meeting in a different location, completely isolated from members of the public,” BPA said in its statement. ⁠
