The Oregonian's travel reporter, Jamie Hale, walked through Mt. Tabor park in Southeast Portland on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, following a winter ice storm that paralyzed the Portland metropolitan area. 

A popular picnic shelter is in pieces and about 30 large conifers have fallen around the park, Portland Parks & Recreation spokesperson Mark Ross said.
