Top Free Things to Do in NYC with Visitors (Year-Round*) 🌃

I get asked this question a lot! What are your favorites for visitors? Maybe will do a Part 2!

*Year round is an important note because there’s so many more free things to do in the summer (Movie Nights in Parks, Shakespeare in the Park, Free Kayaking, the list goes on!)

1. Central Park & Belvedere Castle: So much to explore! You could spend hours here (make sure to go to Conservatory Gardens when construction is over, Harlem Meer)
2. The High Line & Chelsea Market: Great way to see Manhattan views & Chelsea Market is fun to walk around 
3. Pier 57 Rooftop & Little Island: One of my favorites! Rooftop has amazing views, Little Island has free performances in the summer
4. Walk the Brooklyn Bridge: Classic NYC thing to do, go early for the best pictures
5. Staten Island Ferry (Statue of Liberty): Staten Island Ferry is totally free and you can get great views of the Statue of Liberty
6. Free Museum, Garden & Zoo Days: So many top NYC institutions have free hours or days (Whitney, NYBG, MoMA, etc). Look at when your guests are visiting & plan accordingly!
7. World Trade Center & 9/11 Memorial: 9/11 Memorial is always open & free to view, WTC is rebuilt with a lot to see (Oculus, PAC NYC)
8. Bryant Park & New York Public Library: NYPL is beautiful and Bryant Park especially in the winter with skating & the market 
9. Chelsea Art Galleries: Always free, these are great to view for contemporary art fans!
10. Socrates Sculpture Park: Gem in Long Island City with cool art and views
11. South Street Seaport: Cute area for great views and shops, Tin Building is nice market to walk around in 
12. Domino Park: Great spot for sunset, check out Williamsburg before/after 
13. Free Performances at Lincoln Center: A ton of performances are free or Pay What You Wish every week! 
14. Field of Light at Freedom Plaza: Here through 2024, you can walk in to this outdoor art installation (even if tix are sold out)
