## Caption

It’s been 5 years since the collapse of Vale’s mining dam in Brumadinho, in the state of Minas Gerais, the biggest environmental tragedy in the history of Brazil. Since then, no one was held accountable for a crime that killed 272 people and dumped 13 million cubic metres of mud into the Paraopeba River Basin.⁣
⁣
And the threat continues: 49 out of the 344 mining dams in Minas Gerais are at medium and high risk. Companies must be held accountable for the environmental impacts and the destruction caused by their operations.⁣
