Lauren is a relative newcomer to the marathon; she’s only run one but it went pretty darn well — she won the 2023 Grandma’s Marathon in 2:25:55, the fourth-fastest U.S. debut of all time. Her move to the marathon distance was a gradual one, as she spent her college years and first few years as a pro mostly as a middle distance runner — setting PBs of 2:02.97 for 800 meters, 4:09.86 for 1500 meters and 8:47.81 for 3,000 meters. She eventually moved up to 5,000 meters, finishing as high as fourth at the USATF Championships in that event. After joining HOKA NAZ Elite in 2020 she set a PB at 5,000 meters (15:10.01), then jumped to the half marathon distance in 2021 — finishing fourth at the U.S. Championships in 1:09:46. She was second at the 2023 Half Championships before winning the Grandma’s Marathon later that year.

Lauren is one of the friendliest pro athletes you’ll ever meet and she seems to know everyone on the racing circuit (and they all love her)! Born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, Lauren now calls Flagstaff home where she spends much of her non-running time hanging out with her awesome dog, Baylor.

We can’t wait to watch her crush it at her first Trials next week!
