You know I never noticed until now how tight my guy Tom Lee hairline was in this photo. But I guess when you go and meet the President, you have to bring your A game. This was taken at the White House not long after Tom Lee’s heroic efforts in Memphis. 

🌊🚢 In our thewebbyawards winning episode for blackisamericapodcast (this is the very clip we sent to the Academy), we highlight the amazing story of Tom Lee.  What he did will forever be etched in the annals of true heroism. On that fateful day, when the M.E. Norman was in distress, a single man in his small boat, the ZEV, turned the tides of fate for 32 lives. 🛶

Despite the malfunction of his own boat, Tom’s intuition told him something was amiss with the Norman. As it began to list, panic set in among passengers and crew, and ultimately, it capsized. But Tom Lee’s quick thinking and selfless bravery saved many that day. He didn’t just rescue them from the water - he built a fire to keep them warm and went back for more, time and time again. 🔥

🌟 What’s the lesson here? It’s not always the most powerful or the most experienced who become heroes. It’s those who listen to their instincts, who act with compassion and courage, and who are prepared to face adversity head-on. You don’t need a cape or superpowers to be a hero; all it takes is the willingness to help those in need. 🦸🏽‍♀️🦸🏾‍♂️
