Pennants still hang on the walls. Sports still play on TV. And here comes a cheeseburger stacked high with lettuce, tomato, onion, ham, a fried egg and melted American cheese squished inside a sesame seed bun.

But this isn’t Stanich’s, the beloved neighborhood pub that lived at this Northeast Fremont Street building for nearly 70 years. Instead, it’s The Mule, a new sports bar that retains some elements from its predecessor, including The Special, a “world-famous burger prepared as it always has been.”
