With the 2024 CrossFit season about to kick off I was reflecting on last season and the things I have learned. 

For some of you this might be your first season attending events. For others you can name the first time you met every Games champion and what they were wearing that day.  Last year as media attended 1 Open Announcement, 2 Semifinals, WZA, Rogue Invitational, Brute Strength Camp Quarterfinals and the CrossFit Games. Here are some of the things I learned. 

⚡It isn’t about you. Get your shot and get out of the way. This might sound rude but there are anywhere from 10-40 athletes on the floor at a time and everyone is trying to get their shot. 
💥Communicate with the people around you. Most of the media people are cool as hell. Talk to them and good things will happen. There is typically a team attitude out there if you are willing to be part of that team. 
🌞 During in person competitions, clean shots are difficult to come by at a lot of events. Judges, on floor media, broadcast and head staff are all on the floor while your athlete(s) are competing. You need to be nimble and think on your feet. Anticipation is key. 
🌧️ Most of the shots in this video end with either being bumped or me trembling trying to hand hold a 400mm still. Learn your style and come with a game plan for how you are going to get your shot. 
🌶️ Outside media is not the enemy and stop telling yourself that. Most of the best shots last season came from not being in "the pit".
