There is power in the name. Sandra Annette Bland was born today on Feb. 7th in 1987. She spent her life speaking for those who could not speak for themselves. When she spoke, she spoke of the justice that the world needed to see, needed to hear and needed to feel. Her voice and mission was cut short due to the injustices of the system that fails to protect Black skin and polices Black voices. 

When we say ‘Protect Black Women’, the visuals of #SandraBland often come to mind. Today, we say her name, so that other nameless Black women won’t be lost in the echoes of prejudices. Happy Heavenly Birthday Queen.
