UofNH has been chosen as one of 40 U.S. colleges and universities to receive the 2024 Carnegie Community Engagement Classification in recognition of its “institutional commitment to community engagement.”
 
This recognition highlights the university’s commitment to fostering meaningful partnerships with our local and global communities. One such partnership is our UNH-4U program at unhiod.
 
This program provides an inclusive academic, residential, and community higher education experience, to advance students’ academic, life, and career goals. UNH-4U utilizes a person-centered planning process, individualized courses of study, immersion in college life, and support for meaningful employment. In partnership with a network from around the state, UNH-4U also works to increase access to higher education for students with intellectual disability in New Hampshire.
UNH-4U has:
🐾Brought together faculty, staff, and administrators to provide opportunities for young adults with intellectual disability to attend college.
🏫Engaged 25+ UNH students across all UNH colleges as staff and interns for the program.
🤝Developed a State Alliance on Inclusive Postsecondary Education to explore additional inclusive postsecondary education options for students with intellectual disability in New Hampshire.
