## Caption

America’s love affair with speed dates back to the early days of motoring. The first car to exceed 100mph in America, the reconstructed 1904 Gordon Bennett Napier L48 "Samson" Racing Car, will make a triumphant return to Florida, the very place where this powerful engine historically shattered the 100mph record 117 years ago. 

Ahead of our annual #AmeliaIslandAuction, it will be returning to the beaches of Ormond and Daytona at the Historic North Turn Legends Beach Parade on February 10th before heading north to Fernandina Beach 🌴

Having been with its current owner for four decades, this historic car, fastidiously recreated around that groundbreaking engine, now seeks its fifth custodian in 120 years.
