𝘼𝙨 𝙖 𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙙𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙮𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨?

As a pitcher, the position itself holds a tremendous amount of pressure. When I’m in the circle, I lock into a “you’re not going to beat me” mentality but still keep in mind the confidence I have in my teammates behind me. Although personal success feel great, being able to turn around and pat a teammate on the back for their accomplishments is my favorite.  I love watching a great play develop, knowing the countless hours of work that we put in for a few seconds of greatness, that will always be the best feeling as a pitcher.

Setbacks and difficult innings are one of the hardest parts that come with playing the game because no one wakes up and choses failure. When I experience these moments I think back to a time in which I had success and remind myself that I have done it before I can do it again. When my confidence is low, I try and celebrate the small successes. Whether it’s throwing a beautiful pitch or getting ahead in a count, I try and take it one pitch at a time while trusting in my ability. Not only I do stay confident in myself, but confident in my teams capabilities knowing they will have my back through hardships.
