## Caption

Lately I have been getting so many questions on how to paint your own flat lay styling mat, so I figured I would make a short tutorial on how I do it. Of course, this isn’t near any professional level, this is just how I have learned to do it myself! There are definitely tons of other ways you can do it, but this one works best for me! 🎨 ✨ 💕 

Here’s what you’ll need:
	⁃	🖌️Paint brushes (wider mouth to cover canvas surface)
	⁃	🎨 Acrylic paint (a lot of white if you want a lighter-colored mat, plus the main color you want it to be)
	⁃	🍽️Paper plate
	⁃ 🧽Sponge
	⁃ 🖌️Canvas Roll (you can get one at Michaels or Joanns!)

	1. Mix your colors together to achieve the color you’d like as your “base color” for the mat.
	2. Paint your base color on the mat, with the paint stroke in one direction (either up and down or side to side).
	3. Dab your sponge in a darker/lighter shade of your base coat and start dabbing that on the mat. Keep dipping the sponge in paint to create more color contrast among the canvas. In some areas, use a lighter shade, and in other areas use a darker shade. This creates a “cloudy” or “marbled” look!
 4. Continue until you’ve covered the whole mat. And voila! Super simple and fun!
