"I would recommend attending a Career Fair to any future students. Meeting a recruiter is a much better way of connecting with different companies than just applying on their website or trying to connect on LinkedIn. It allows you to demonstrate your professional skills firsthand," said Adam Sauer.

Adam Sauer is a Sophomore Electrical Engineering major. In the future, he hopes to work in alternative energy production, battery technology, and on improving the sustainability of energy production/storage. In an effort to set his future career up for success, Sauer attended the Fall University Career & Internships Fair earlier this semester.

At the fair, Sauer was able to connect with several companies, received some interviews, and even ended up with an internship offer.

"I made many meaningful connections at the Career Fair. I received two interviews. One from Burns & McDonnell and one from Black & Veatch. From each of these I received internship offers, and I have gone ahead and accepted an electrical engineering internship for this summer," said Sauer.

Fairs can seem overwhelming to a student for the first time, but Adam has some tips!

"I learned in my Engineering 100 class how to formulate an 'elevator pitch' which is essentially describing yourself and your skills in a concise and effective manner. I learned the importance of having questions ready for the recruiters," said Sauer. "I mapped out where I wanted to go beforehand which made it easier to find my way around."

Outside of his studies, Adam is involved with UNL's IEEE chapter, or the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He is also on UNL's Chem-E Car Competition Team and the UNL Golf Club team.
