El Salvador’s squad for the W Gold Cup qualifier against Guatemala includes 12 Salvadoran-Americans. 🇸🇻🇺🇸

One of them is Juana Plata, a key player for their defense.

Born and raised to Salvadoran and Mexican parents in Texas, Juana just signed for Rayadas in Liga MX Femenil. 🇲🇽

The last couple months have been massive for Juana.

She just graduated from Texas State University in December, becoming a part of 5.9% of Latinas in the U.S. with an MBA degree.

The defender’s sporting dreams also came true in January as she signed her first professional contract in México.

Juana was part of the El Salvador team that won the bronze medal at the Central American and Caribbean games last year.🥉

Her performances with El Salvador, combined with her college soccer performances, earned her a big move to Rayadas.

Now, just few days after turning 24, the next challenge for her is to beat Guatemala.

Guatemala also called up 10 Guatemalan-Americans for this game.

The two teams will face off this Saturday, the 17th, in Carson, California.

Whoever wins will be in a group with Canada, Costa Rica, and Paraguay.
