Earlier this year (pre-pandemic) we took ambassador Yovanna Ventura (@yoventura) for an adventure through Jamaica to learn about the work of some of our partners on the ground, including Lawrence Henriques at Holland Bay Croc Sanctuary and our friends at Hope Zoo. Lawrence has dedicated his life’s work to protecting and restoring the American Crocodiles that are native to Jamaica, and his headstart program has successfully raised crocs to stand a better chance at survival in the wild. Another iconic Jamaican native, the Jamaican Iguana, was once thought to be extinct but has been brought back thanks to partners devoted to its recovery. At Hope Zoo we had a chance to visit iguanas that are being raised for release into the wild.
