Victoria Van Ness, founder of NYC’s ambyrclub and the self-proclaimed female Hitch, has founded a membership-based social club that pairs up the city’s eligible bachelors and bachelorettes through in-person speed dating, dinner parties, and interactive activities—all with a sexy undercurrent.

The search for love in a hopeless place starts with a preliminary 30-question online survey (a background check, if you will), and if you’re deemed a suitable candidate for club membership, the second round entails a one-on-one interview. Once accepted, you’ll have access to Ambyr Club’s matchmaking services and speed-dating events like workout classes, cooking classes, or game nights at bars around the city. As for staying in the club? Van Ness’ team keeps a close eye on the member’s involvement, and ghosting is essentially outlawed. “We want members who are really trying and looking for something serious. If we notice people are consistently coming and not following through with going out with someone or even texting back, then we kick them out,” Van Ness tells Thrillist.
