## Caption

Today we take a moment to acknowledge all the victims of gun violence both nationwide and in Louisiana.

If we want to curb gun violence, the solutions are not in policing our youth and throwing them in jail. We must invest in efforts to address systemic inequalities and the mental health disparities that are often at the root of gun violence. Additionally, the lack of adequate and affordable housing is closely linked to gun violence.

Evidence has shown that programs such as; job training, youth development, after-school programs, or community centers all can help reduce gun violence.

When we invest in our community and youth, we invest in safety.

Follow @violencefreenola to participate in what New Orleans is doing to prevent gun violence within our community.
