A summer spent helping others 🚑

Meet Ariana, a rising sophomore here at Skidmore. Ariana plans to major in neuroscience and is volunteering this summer as a cadet on her local first aid squad in Wantage Township, New Jersey.

As a cadet, Ariana works with ambulance drivers, EMTs, EMRs, and other cadets to answer medical 911 calls and emergencies, and directly helps patients in the back of the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

On the internship, Ariana says: "My favorite part about volunteering is learning from the experienced EMTs on the squad who often are nurses and other medical practitioners when they are not volunteering. My goal is to become a medical professional myself one day, so starting the First Aid Squad in high school and continuing to college just cements that desire, and keeps my first aid skills sharp."

Be sure to follow along on our stories today for a day in the life of Ariana!

Ariana received an award from the Skidmore’s Summer Experience Fund (SEF) to pursue this experience. SEF is supported by the generosity of donors, including the Zankel Experience Network (ZEN).
