The varsity boys basketball team lost Tuesday night to the LBJ Jaguars.

Senior JD Jordan said they were doing what they could with what they had. The Knights took the court at LBJ without eight regular varsity players.

“After the loss going forward, we are going to try and win out and get second in district,” Jordan said.

After trailing by nine points at halftime, 36-25, the Knights closed the third quarter on an 8-4 run thanks to six consecutive points by Jordan to trim the Jag lead to five points at 44-39 heading into the fourth quarter.

Jordan added five more points in the fourth quarter for 11 second-half points, but it wasn’t enough as the final score was Jags 63, Knights 50.

In order to field a full team for the game, several JV players were promoted to varsity.

“I’m glad we got to see what some of the younger JV guys could do and see some different people play together as a team,” Jordan said.

The Knights rebounded from Tuesday’s loss with a decisive victory at home against Navarro. With the win, the Knights swept the season series over the Vikings and improved to 6-3 in district play. We have full coverage of that game on this feed soon.

The Knights are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to LASA to play the Raptors. The Knights will be motivated to avenge an 49-45 overtime loss to the Raptors on Dec. 13 in a home game relocated to Burger Center after flooding made the gym off limits for the game. Game time is at 8 p.m.

The Knights also play Eastside next week on Friday at home.
