KNIGHTS 9, COUGARS 1: On Wednesday, the varsity soccer team played their second-to last district game against Crockett, whom they had previously defeated 4-1 in a high intensity, high emotion matchup. Senior Captain Sydney Suárez-Wallace started the game with a vengeance.

“I think the game was a mix of one last good game before Ann Richards, and getting revenge on people that made us mad,” Suárez-Wallace said.

Going into the game with something to prove, the offensive line was able to create opportunities from the get-go. Suárez-Wallace scored four goals.

“I remember being relieved we had scored so early on in the half,” Suárez-Wallace said.
“The fourth and final one was a beautiful cross from Emmi Anderson.”

Two goals each from juniors Kat Klein and Sarah Hauck and one goal from senior Sophia Gonzales put the game at 9-0. However, the Cougars were able to put one on the scoreboard in the last few minutes of the game.

“At that point we might’ve gotten too confident in our score and just started getting lazy,” Suárez-Wallace said, “I also think her shot was just extremely lucky.”

The Knights hope luck will be on their side against Ann Richards Saturday morning. The varsity plays at 10:45 a.m. at House Park, preceded by the JV at 9 a.m.
