The varsity baseball team continued its district winning and scoreless innings streaks by beating the Navarro Vikings 11-0 on Tuesday April 11 and 18-0 on Friday April 14.

"We were expecting to run rule Navarro and give up no runs against them, just like the rest of our district opponents," junior Sam Stevens said.

And that they did. With junior Nico Sanchez pitching the second game, the Knights didn't allow Navarro to score, continuing the shutout streak they extended with a shutout win on Tuesday night. After one inning, the Knights led 3-0, and the lead kept growing from there.

In the second inning, the Knights added four runs while keeping the Vikings off the board. The Knights put the game away for good with an eight-run third inning to make it 15-0.

Despite the story the scoreboard tells, Stevens says Navarro wasn't a pushover.

"They were actually one of the closest teams to score against us during district, which was pretty nerve-racking,” Stevens said, “but we were able to hold them to a shutout, and we have continued to shut out the rest of our district opponents."

By the bottom of the fourth, both teams were ready to wrap it up and head home. The Knights scored three more runs for an 18-0 final score..

The following week, the Knights swept the Travis Rebels by twin 19-0 victories on April 18 and April 21. After defeating Eastside 18-0 on Tuesday and 23-0 on Saturday, the Knights completed an undefeated district championship season, outsourcing opponents 181-0 along the way.

The playoffs are next. The Knights will start a best-of-three series against Georgetown East View on Thursday at Northwest Park, with Game 2 on Friday in Georgetown and Game 3 if necessary on Saturday back at Northwest. It will be the fourth time this school year that East View and McCallum have squared off in the bi-district playoffs. If the baseball team can beat the Patriots, it will level the playoff record between the schools at 2-2.
