KNIGHTS 18, PANTHERS 0: Nathan Nagy pitched a complete-game five-inning no-hitter on Tuesday as the varsity baseball team defeated Eastside 18-0 in the opening game of the final district series for both teams at Northside Park.

Nagy struck out 12 against one walk and one hit batsmen, the only baserunners the Panthers enjoyed in the game.

Third baseman Sam Stevens led a balanced offensive attack, going 3-for-4 with a double and driving in four runs. Leadoff hitter and shortstop Nico Sanchez also went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Sanchez, Stevens and Pablo Lopez all reached base four times over the five innings played. Stevens and center fielder Colby Summers scored three runs.

Center fielder Conrad Bohls tripled as part of the Knights’ 15 hits in the game. The Knights had more hits in the game (15) than the Panthers had at-bats (14). The Knights also drew 12 walks and reached base when hit by a pitch three times. They also stole seven bases in eight attempts. The Panthers stole a base and were caught stealing once.

Following two 19-0 wins over Travis the week before, the Game 1 victory over Eastside not only kept the Knights undefeated in district play but also preserved the team’s somewhat insane streak of not allowing a run over the course of the district season. With the Knights’ 23-0 Senior Day victory in Game 2 on Saturday, the Knights ended the regular season with both district streaks intact.

The Knights open a best-of-three bi-district playoff series against Georgetown East View Thursday night at home.
