DALLESANDRO SCORES FIRST VARSITY GOAL: The girls soccer team scrimmage against Bastrop last Friday provided a huge moment for sophomore Ava Dallesandro: her first varsity goal. Assisted by junior Ashley Mankinen, Dellesandro scored in the first half to produce the only goal in an eventual 1-0 victory.

“It [the goal] felt absolutely amazing,” Dallesandro said. “And it felt exactly as I had envisioned it.”

The moment was made sweeter by the support received from Dallesandro’s teammates.

“As soon as I scored, I looked down the field and saw Maya Tackett running towards me,” Dallesandro said. “She jumped into my arms and we both screamed with joy. It was such a memorable moment.”

Dallesandro also found the goal brought her a newfound respect within the team.

“Then [after the hug with Tackett] senior captain Sarah Hauck came and gave me two high fives,” she said. “I look up to her so much, so that small gesture meant a lot.”

Next game the Knights play will be in the Blue Bell Classic tournament, which will take place in Brenham from Jan. 4-6.
