KNIGHTS 1 RAPTORS 1: This past Wednesday, the girls varsity soccer team played the LASA Raptors to a 1-1 draw at House Park.

Senior Ruby Barnett thinks that the team was stressed going into the game but was able to up their intensity when it was needed.

“I know we put a lot of pressure on ourselves toward the beginning, but when we needed to score a goal and bring our best we were able to“ Barnett said.

The Raptors scored first about 20 minutes into the first half off of a penalty kick.

By the end of the first half, the Knights’ energy was down, and the team made some mistakes. After struggling in the first half, however, the team was able to pick up the energy and adjust their play in the second half.

“Overall we had lost a bit of momentum by the end of the first half so we pushed each other to play with all of our energy and not give up.” Barnett said. “We also changed our formation, so that the middle was more focused on connecting passes.”

Caroline Owen scored the equalizer about 20 minutes into the half on a header off Kat Klein’s corner. Owen positioned herself by the near post and said before the set piece that she visualized scoring. When Klein struck a perfect corner, Owen was ready and finished the play.

The Knights play Travis at House Park Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
