How much we spent waterfall hunting: Costa Rica VS Ecuador…🫣

If we’re being honest, when we explored Costa Rica we were a bit sticker shocked 🇨🇷💸. 

Equally shocking — our low step count 👣. Almost everywhere required a hefty entrance fee, and we became super selective of where we explored…

No doubt - Costa Rica is an incredible place to visit and its natural beauty is unmatched, however, it comes with a hefty(er) price tag. 

Enter Ecuador. 

One of South America’s smallest countries packs a major punch, and we found it to be super affordable. 

So let’s break it down… 

💦WATERFALL ENTRANCE FEES💦
(What we spent in 2023)

🇨🇷Costa Rica = $90 each for 8 waterfall entrance + $120 each for waterfall rappelling. 

🇪🇨 Ecuador = $8.50 each for 6 waterfalls + a dozen or so free roadsides stops!

Our Opinion: If you’d like to get off the beaten path, experience more untapped beaty, and YES, have a budget-friendly adventure, you may want to give Ecuador a go! 

TIP: to experience Ecuador’s epic waterfalls, we loved the areas around #Baños and Puyo (on the Amazon border), specifically the ‘Ruta de las Cascades’ (Route of the Waterfalls), a stunning 25km drive.
