Welcome to #OKP25, it’s our birthday! 🎈

For 25 years, Okayplayer has championed artists, musicians and trailblazers in Hip-Hop. February 23rd marks the birth of a home that started it all for digital publications covering our favorite genre of music and beyond. Before Facebook, before Myspace, before Twitter – we can confidently say we changed the game.

The OKP message boards were the rare space where Black digital voices could be heard and acknowledged by peers and fellow recording artists. We can’t overstate the importance and impact that Angela Nissel, Ahmir Questlove Thompson and the community created. An influence so strong that it is still felt to this very day as you consume your favorite content via dot com and social media.
