Despite powerful testimony, thoughtful questions from legislators on the disastrous effects of this bill and several amendments offered – and ultimately opposed – SB3 which lowers the age 17-year-old youth are tried as adults was approved by the House with 74 yays & 26 nays. It now heads to the Governor's desk for signature.⁠

As a result of this, #Louisiana will become the first state in the country to repeal #raisetheage legislation and joins Georgia, Texas, and Wisconsin as the only states to view and introduce 17-year-old adolescents into the adult criminal legal system.
