Before becoming an NYRR member, Marshele Juste mostly ran alone but after joining she realized that running doesn’t have to be a solo activity.
 
“When I first looked at the website, I was so happy to see [NYRR] was more than just a race organizer. NYRR serves the community. It’s a place where I could find community.”
 
Marshele learned about New York Road Runners when she searched for ways to enter the #TCSNYCMarathon. She said she was looking for a goal to aspire to and learned that the 9+1 program for guaranteed entry into the marathon was something she wanted to accomplish. 💪
 
“I became a member to sign up for races. Five years later I am still a member. I love being surrounded by thousands of runners on race day.”
 
During the pandemic, Marshele ran to help relieve stress from being a nurse. She said running keeps her grounded and focused.
 
“I like the way it makes me feel. It helps me to work through challenges I’m grappling with in my head.”
 
Marshele completed her 9+1 journey not too long ago and ran the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon. She’s inspiring her friends to run too. 🤗
 
“No one in my immediate circle were runners, but I’m now inspiring my friends to join me. I’m an LPN and a registered dietitian, so I feel as if good health is an important part of my life.”
