Tag an adventure buddy you’d like to explore Mayan ruins with!

📍 Welcome to Tikal National Park, one of the largest ancient cities in the Maya civilizations.

And no, this is not in Mexico!

🗺️ Tikal is Located in northern Guatemala 🇬🇹 . You can take a short (35-minute) flight to nearby Flores, or a 10+ hr road trip from Guatemala City 🚙.

⏰ Short on time? We loved visiting over a weekend and loved experiencing the colorful island of Flores, but we learned that tikalgo also hosts day-trips from Belize, Antigua or Guatemala City!

😮 Honestly, what shocked us the most is how massive this park is, and shockingly—80% is still uncovered! We thought having a trusty guide is essential 👌.

TIP: We opted for a full-day sunset tour in the hopes of experiencing the park to ourselves, and it worked! Most travelers arrive early, and leave by 1-2pm, when we were arriving. And, we got to stick around for one of the most incredible sunsets of our lives 🤩.

This was so much more than ‘just a tour’—there’s magic in this park, and we feel so grateful to have experienced!

We also can’t recommend tikalgo enough! It was one of the most amazing experiences we’ve ever had 🫶.

SAVE for your next adventure! And stay tuned— we just returned from Guatemala and will be sharing all the tips squirrelmusttravel 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♂️.
