“You don’t get what you want by doing the work and being nice. You’ve got to promote yourself.”

When I said this last week when giving a guest workshop at ronbizcoach 's mastermind in Houston last week, the room was eerily quiet. 

I was giving a talk about working with a guy who looked like Ryan Gosling’s better-looking brother.

The sun flew out of his arse wherever he walked.

BUT I learnt the biggest lesson of my life working alongside him 👇🏽

You don’t get what you want by doing the work and being nice. You’ve got to promote yourself.

Men go for the role they want BEFORE they’re ready because they know in the act of going for it, they’re telling everyone this is what they want. They’re master manifesters!

Women STOP themselves going for a role because they think need to be perfect for it (which never happens).

So guess who gets the desirable role?

And you know what?

I see the same trend happening in the world of women experts:

Doctors, psychologists, leadership coaches -

They wait for far too long to get media for their work…

…because they’re not ready yet.

And you know who is?

A male expert at the SAME level.

So when journalists, TV news anchors, radio experts are looking for experts to comment on something in the media, do you think they have the same number of male and female experts raising their hands to guest?

Of course they bloody don’t!

Women are holding themselves back.

And then rant in the bar about how no one recognises their talent. 

So here’s my message ahead of International Women’s Day because EVERY DAY is a day you back yourself.

If you’re not in the media you’re playing too small. 

Truth thought leaders get media coverage to attract clients, credibility and reach….
