The 69kg class is promised to be an exciting battle with the mix of newcomer and veteran fighting for a ticket to Worlds. Here are the best recent totals of the top nominees:

Gabby Martinez 540kg (1,190lbs)
Chelsea Savit 530kg (1,168lbs)
Jacqueline Malayter 530kg (1,168lbs)

First up we have Malayter, who is hoping to make a strong debut to the PA national stage while facing off against two veterans in the game. She has only been competing since 2020 and has made outstanding progress since then—she first broke past the 500kg barrier this past September and now sports a competitive 530kg.

Savit is coming in as the reigning 69kg national champion and holds the same PR total as Malayter. However, she carries with her invaluable international experience that the others do not have. She has traveled to the World Championships three times and each time has placed within the top five overall spots. Will this factor give her enough of an advantage to defend her title and return to Worlds?

Martinez rounds out the nominations with a PR total of 540kg. This was done at the Texas Fall Championships in November while weighing just slightly over the 69kg class. This will be her first time on the PA national stage, but she is coming in with a decade of competition history behind her and is no stranger to putting up a fight. She holds the biggest deadlift of the group—a massive 225kg—and will likely have the last pull of the day and know exactly what she will need to hit to take the title.

Who will come out on top and snag their spot on the national team in this tight match? Tune in on Friday, March 15 on the @sbdapparel YouTube page to find out.
