Bow Seat is thrilled to feature two amazing student creations by Widley Joseph and Vedha Athmanathan, winners of the 2023 Ocean Awareness Contest! 

🌊 Widley’s powerful poem “Haiti: Jean Wiener’s Work” sheds light on the environmental struggles in Haiti and the inspiring efforts of Climate Hero Jean Wiener. Through her words, she beautifully captures the resilience and hope of her homeland. Meanwhile, Vedha’s stunning artwork “Climate Warrior’’ portrays Wiener as the superhero our planet needs, fighting tirelessly to protect marine biodiversity in Haiti. Her intricate detailing and vibrant colours bring his story to life, inspiring us all to take action for a greener future

In their reflections, Widley and Vedha share their deep admiration for Jean Wiener and his dedication to environmental conservation in Haiti. Widley’s passion for representing her country shines through as she challenges stereotypes and highlights the beauty of Haiti’s oceans. On the other end, Vedha’s creative vision transforms Wiener into a symbol of hope, emphasising the importance of recognizing and celebrating environmental heroes. Their art and poetry serve as a powerful reminder of the impact individuals can have on our planet, and we’re honoured to share their work with the world

Widley, Vedha, and Bow Seat are together in celebrating the extraordinary work of Jean Wiener and all those who are committed to protecting our oceans and planet. 

🚨 Bow Seat’s 2024 Ocean Awareness Contest themed ‘Tell Your Climate Story’ is now open for submissions. If you’re a young creative between ages 11-18. You can submit any form of creative work from art, poetry to performance art to stand a chance of winning cash awards up to $1000 USD in each category and receive recognition. Entry is free.
