I remember 2018 driving over 50 mins one way to build a Dallas community center fitness program. The city wanted me to build it to show a need then maybe parks and recreation could pay me. I did not get paid in money ever but the seniors would pour so much life into me with their knowledge of life. I did not ever complain that they didn’t pay me. I did this as a resident who saw a need but now that need is getting met because I had to show them the need and I had to do so without monetary compensation. Many times as leaders we will have to be the 1st to do something to get it started but that’s does not mean just because you’re 1st you’ll get a trophy each time. See real leaders get the reward on the backend when what they started can’t be stopped. If you want to be a leader you have to stop looking for instant physical and monetary rewards. To be a leader is to be a servant to those you lead. I have used my last to give back so of course I’ll use my overflow to pour back into my communities. I don’t have the time like I had when it was just me to give back physically but I use what I have and that’s my education in business, resources I’ve been blessed to accumulate, and my vast network of professionals to help meet my flock with their needs. I never been for everyone but the ones I am for they SOAR. I hope I shined a light 💡 on someone darkness.
