Virginia lawmakers announced Wednesday they will strip a proposal for a new arena for the Wizards and Capitals from the next state budget.

Senate Finance and Appropriations Chairwoman senatorlouiselucas (D-Portsmouth) told the Washington Post that she remained opposed to Youngkin’s effort to use billions in taxpayer dollars to help billionaire team owner Ted Leonsis build an arena to bring the teams to Alexandria.
