The 76kg class at Classic Nationals will witness the clash of several all-around great competitors. Here are the best recent totals of the top nominees:

Cranon Worford 549.5kg (1,211lbs)
Dayna McNeal 537.5kg (1,184lbs)
Michelle Robbins 535kg (1,179lbs)
Claire Zai 528.5kg (1,165lbs)
Jessica Kinney 525.5kg (1,158lbs)

First up we have Kinney and Zai, separated only by 3kg. Even though Kinney is the youngest lifter of the group, she is a seasoned competitor as she is a two-time junior national champion and has competed at Junior Worlds twice. Zai is also no stranger to stiff competition–she placed silver at both last year’s PA Nationals and at the NAPF North American Championships in two tight battles. Both Kinney and Zai will be vying to climb the rankings and snag a podium spot or the overall crown.

Robbins and McNeal are two more competitors coming in with invaluable international experience behind them. Robbins is last year’s 84kg national champion, and she went on to win the NAPF North American Championships in the same division. Her nominated total was done in the 84kg class at North Americans, so she will need to carry that strength to the 76kg class.

McNeal is coming in as the reigning 76kg two-time national champion, looking to defend her title and return to Worlds. She has appeared at the World Championships twice now, placing in the top five in both instances. In past years at Nationals, she has competed largely unopposed, but now the class is stacked with other elite lifters looking to take the title. She holds the largest deadlift of the group at a massive 245kg and will likely load up for the win no matter what.

Worford leads the nominations with a huge 549.5kg total, despite being the newcomer to the federation and the sport as a whole. She has only been competing for about two years, but has made incredible progress since her first competition.

How far will Worford’s progress take her? Will the newcomer pull far ahead of the pack, or will this be a tighter battle for the title? Tune in on Saturday, March 16 on the sbdapparel YouTube page to find out.
