The 105kg class at Classic Nationals will hold some of the strongest men alive battling it out. Here are the best recent totals of the top nominees:

Ashton Rouska 968kg (2,134lbs)
Dwardly Edouard 917.5kg (2,022lbs)
Michael Davis 912.5kg (2,011lbs)

First up, we have Davis, who is nominated just 5kg behind Edouard. Davis has been in the game for over a decade and has quite the resume to back him up. He is the 2022 national champion and has gone on to compete at Classic Worlds in the Open division twice, placing within the top four both times. He also competed at the inaugural Sheffield where he faced off against Sweden’s Emil Norling. To say he is familiar with fierce competition would be an understatement. He will be hoping to rise to the occasion at this year’s Nationals to make his return to the World Championships.

Edouard is looking to make a strong debut to the PA national stage. His best lifts in each discipline are similar to Davis’ bests, so the two may go back and forth throughout their attempts to fight for positioning.

With Rouska’s phenomenal total, he could be considered the heavy favorite to take the crown. He carries a hefty amount of experience behind him and is always up for a fight. Even though he has competed once before on the international stage as a sub-junior, he has yet to compete for the U.S. national team in the open division. His PR total is 28kg over the current total world record in the class. He is hunting for a showdown against the reigning world champion in Ukraine’s Anatolii Novopismennyi among other international lifters in order to claim the title as the best in the world.

How far will Rouska push his total? Have the other competitors made enough progress to challenge his campaign to become an Open world champion? Tune in on Friday, March 15 on the sbdapparel YouTube page to find out.
